Power out following car crash in South TaranakiSUPPLIED Occupants of the vehicle were taken to hospital to be checked. More than 80 South Taranaki residents were without power after a car collided with a power pole. The crash occurred about 1.15pm on Sunday on Denby Rd, Hawera, and saw a vehicle knock down a power pole which blocked off the road. Powerco were called to the scene to isolate any potentially dangerous wires and it was expected power would be restored by 6pm Sunday. Powerco has reported on its website the cause was being investigated and power should be reconnected to all residents by midnight.
