In spite of her disability, she has maintained her GPA 5 streak in three consecutive board exams including Primary School Certificate (PSC), Junior School Certificate (JSC), and Secondary School Certificate (SSC). Deepa, after being abandoned by her father in early childhood, was brought up by her maternal uncle and aunt. Since, her mother is mentally challenged, it was her relatives who took care of her against their acute poverty. Deepa said: "Besides my uncle and aunt, I want to thank my honourable teachers who helped me with my studies. I want Deepa to stand with her head held high in the society, with her inherent brilliance."
