Possible corruption in SEA Games bid, says source - Nation

KUALA LUMPUR: Elements of corruption and abuse of power have been suspected in the tender exercise for the supply of equipment for gymnastics events for the 2017 SEA Games. The source said the tender for the supply of gymnastics equipment for the SEA Games, which was closed in December, was cancelled and a new tender was then opened through the Malaysia Stadium Corporation a month later. “The Youth and Sports Ministry has already appointed Malaysian Resources Corp Berhad (MRCB) to handle all infrastructures and facilities for the SEA Games," he said. “Malaysia will host its sixth SEA Games this year and such incidents are indeed worrying as they can tarnish the image of national sports,” he added. On Feb 9, the ministry said that news reports about the flaw in the tender process for the supply of gymnastics equipment for the 2017 SEA Games were inaccurate.
