Taking advantage of the situation, hawkers and street vendors in the region have raised the price of used warm clothes as well. The government is yet to distribute winter clothes for the season, which is also causing immense suffering to underprivileged residents of the area. The low temperatures in Gaibandha are also affecting businesses in the area due to fewer people staying out after dark. People and livestock in the char region are suffering the most.
