West Midlands police said the police officer was injured while approaching the suspected stolen car in Wolverhampton at about 9:15pm on Monday night. One of the officers was walking towards the car when it accelerated towards him and sent him over the bonnet. The officer, who Detective Sergeant Louise Stafford said only through "pure good fortune" managed to escape the attack without more serious injuries, suffered minor leg injuries.
