Police to monitor PAD’s Friday meeting

The verdict has angered yellow-shirt leaders, who called on the National Anti-Corruption Commission to appeal the acquittal. Deputy PM and Defence Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwat said on Friday that he has assigned police to monitor the PAD’s possible gathering this afternoon. Prawit also warned that any political gathering of five or more people would risk breaking the junta order. Another Pheu Thai ex-PM, Yingluck Shinawatra, will hear a final verdict on August 25 over charges related to her former government’s rice-pledging scheme. Prawit said that a mass gathering to support Yingluck would possibly occur and authorities expect to be able to keep the situation under control.
