Two Thais arrested for attempted smuggling

Police and troops Friday morning intercepted two pickup trucks on a Sa Kaew road and found 18 undocumented Cambodians hidden inside. The two pickup drivers – Piya Sungyuenyong, 24, and Subin Khammootree, 35 – were arrested, along with the 18 Cambodians and were taken to Klong Luek police station for interrogation and legal action. The 18 Cambodians carried no travel documents. The 18 Cambodians said they paid Bt2,000 each to a broker in Poipet who promised to arrange for their transport to Bangkok for a job. The two Thais said they were paid Bt800 for each smuggled Cambodia to drive them to Bangkok.
