more-inThe Tambaram police, on Thursday, arrested two persons who were trying remove the skimmer they had placed in an ATM on Gandhi Road in Tambaram. Subsequently, the bank manager and other officials inspected it and confirmed that it was a skimmer. On inquiry, the suspects admitted to the crime saying they have been paid by unknown callers for procuring data by planting skimmer devices in ATM centres. The device was capable of capturing card details, including the PIN, through a sensor panel when a customer uses the ATM. “ATM users should inspect card slots for suspicious objects and change the PINs of their bank cards at frequent intervals,” the officer said.
