NewsIn today's News Judicial independence shown through Gotabhaya verdict - RajapaksaThe Police are carrying out investigations into two complaints regarding election violence, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said today (Oct 4). These complaints have been filed against the promotion of Presidential candidates through digital hoardings in Narahenpitiya and Welikada. The Election Commission recently warned that promoting presidential candidates through digital hoardings on the roadside, and at cinemas is considered to be an offence. At present, 493 police operation centres have been set-up in each police division to accept complaints on election violence or law violations. The Presidential election is scheduled to be held on November 16.
