NewsPrime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe visited the Batticaloa International Airport today (Oct 4) to observe its development work, the Prime Minister's Office said. Issuing a statement, the Prime Minister's Office said that Rs 1400 million has been spent on the runway lighting system and a new passenger terminal. Batticaloa Airport was opened for civil aviation services in 2018 while Cabinet approval was granted recently to transform the airport into an International Airport. Meanwhile, the Palali Airport will be developed and renamed as the Jaffna International Airport and is expected to be opened by the middle of October.
