It was learnt that the three assailants were gunned down after dispossessing students of laptops, phones, cash and other valuables. A night soil man said he went to the neighbourhood to evacuate human waste when the hoodlums struck. He explained that over 20 armed men stormed the area at about 2am on Sunday and robbed students and residents. He noted that some of the robbers fled through the bush into the University of Uyo ravine to escape the gunfire of the SARS team. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Odiko Macdon, who confirmed the incident, said the robbers abandoned a locally-made pistol and many stolen items, including phones and laptops.
