A fire started on a disused floor of a Christchurch hospital building has highlighted concerns about the level of security at the site. Substandard facilities at Princess Margaret have been blamed for compromising patient and staff safety. It was not ideal having services fragmented across multiple sites, Meates said, but there was currently no alternative facilities or location for the specialist mental health services based at Princess Margaret Hospital.
