A Fire Service spokesman said firefighters from Mosgiel Station were called to reports of a blaze at Memorial Park in Gordon Rd just before midnight on Wednesday. On arrival, the crews found burnt building paper in the park. The fire was out when they arrived, he said A police spokeswoman said police were called to the park just after midnight yesterday. The investigation was ongoing, she said.The Dunedin City Council was paying South Dunedin business Impact Roofing & Plumbing $100,000 to replace the leaky Mosgiel Memorial Gym roof. The gym building had no damage from the burglary or fire, he said.
