Crime & Punishment of Wednesday, 25 February 2026Source: www.ghanaweb.comPolice in the Oti Region have retrieved a large quantity of suspected cannabis valued at more than GH¢1.4 million from a truck that was intercepted in December 2025. According to the police, the Volvo truck was stopped at the Bonakye checkpoint while heading towards Passa. The police said when the truck was opened following a court order, officers found 320 cartons of bottled mineral water. However, concealed beneath the cartons were 91 bales of suspected cannabis. The police reaffirmed its commitment to combatting the trafficking and distribution of illegal drugs in the country.
