I literally just finished writing an entire article guessing at when Niantic would announce Pokémon GO’s Valentine’s Day event, so naturally, they decide to unveil it the moment I completed that. Niantic has taken the unusual step of announcing the event the day it starts, usually content to promote it a day or two before it happens. But Pokémon GO’s Valentine’s event is live today and it’s uh, not really going to get a lot of people excited, I’m guessing, with a few exceptions. It’s a double candy event, which most players did enjoy during Halloween, as it helps build up evolutions and upgraded Pokémon faster. But this is less exciting than the starter event which spawned those Pokémon everywhere, and it’s certainly less exciting than introducing actual new Pokémon into the game.
