NianticToday is the official one year anniversary of the launch of Pokémon GO, and there was no way we were going to get through this milestone without some sort of anniversary event. There seem to be two main components of the Anniversary Event, which starts today, July 6th and runs through July 24th, the first being the arrival of “Ash Hat Pikachu,” which is exactly what it sounds like. Like Santa Hat and Party Hat Pikachu before him, this special version of Pikachu will be wearing Ash’s hat, as he did in the animated series on many occasions. If not, this “summer” Legendary launch is skipping about two full months of this summer, which seems ill-advised. I hope there are some additional components to this week-long anniversary event.
