Britain’s first forecourt dedicated to powering electric cars opens today. The site in Braintree, Essex, can charge 36 vehicles at a timeSales of plug-in cars eclipsed diesels for the second time last month, underlining the soaring demand for the very cleanest vehicles. Research by the RAC showed that pure electric cars and plug-in hybrids accounted for 18,062 vehicles sold in the UK in November, 13 per cent higher than the 15,925 diesels sold.
