Plea to hire counsellors to sensitise students about child abuse


The Madras High Court has directed the State government to consider employing trained full-time counsellors experienced in child psychology in educational institutions to create awareness children about sexual abuse. The petitioner wanted the court to direct the government to mandate that every school has trained and professional full-time counsellors. She argued that child sexual abuse can be prevented only when the communities, institutions and the government come together to share the burden.
