A 100-year-old water main ruptured Tuesday morning, sending a torrent of water into a Larchmont street. The rupture was reported about 7:22 a.m. in the 600 block of North Wilton Place near Melrose Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department. Crews closed Melrose Avenue from Gramercy and Wilton Place as they worked to repair the damage pipe. DWP records show three water mains leaks occurred nearby, in the 500 block of North Wilton Place, in 2012 and 2013. In each event, DWP work crews were dispatched to repair a 20-inch, cast-iron water main there.
