The tourism season must have begun because the Picton 'money tree', an Elm tree on the foreshore, has got its first leaves. The leaves coming out is a signal that the busy season for Picton businesses is underway, hence the reference to money. Last tourism season its leaves apparently fell within a week of the final cruise ship of the season. To celebrate the harbinger of money, Picton residents are holding a picnic under the tree at 5.30pm on Wednesday.
