Despite San Francisco’s typical May gray weather, foggy conditions couldn’t put a damper on Bay to Breakers’ party atmosphere as thousands of runners, walkers and exhibitionists took to the streets Sunday. The 12-kilometer race, which winds its way through the middle of San Francisco, is only a race for some. Many took a more leisurely approach, weighed down by elaborate costumes and the sloshing of alcoholic beverages in their stomachs. Early risers, who were there for competition and to set personal bests, took off from the starting line at Howard and Main streets at 8 a.m.
