Phillies Sign David Robertson, Adding to Off-Season Spending

David Robertson made his first major league appearance on June 29, 2008, the earliest Yankees debut of anyone on last year’s team. Robertson, 33, will now pitch for the Philadelphia Phillies, who signed him to a two-year, $23 million contract on Thursday. It was the second time the Yankees let Robertson go as a free agent; he signed with the Chicago White Sox in December 2014 but returned in a trade after two and a half seasons. “Being that this was my second time in free agency, there are other options out there, and there are other places to go. New York will always hold a place in my heart, but I think it was just time for me to go somewhere else.”
