Philip Green and the unacceptable face of capitalism

Michael McLoughlinLondon• The parliamentary report on Philip Green and BHS wheels out that tired old cliche about the “unacceptable face of capitalism”. This is outsourcing and sub-, sub-, sub-contracting away responsibility. You say of Philip Green’s behaviour that it is the unacceptable face of capitalism (Green’s reign at BHS torn apart by MPs, 25 July). Outsourced providers in general can reduce costs only by reducing paid hours but not the workload, reducing wages or employing underqualified staff. Other articles in the same edition suggest a greater unacceptable abuse, one used by private companies, local authorities and government.
