THE chief of Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) on Tuesday denied the University of Santo Tomas Hospital’s (USTH) claims that the state-owned insurer owes them P180 million, causing the hospital to lay-off workers amid coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. “That’s not true,” said PhilHealth chief Ricardo Morales on an interview, referring to the hospital’s pronouncements. Morales pointed out that the hospital received P2.1 billion since 2015 and P300 million in 2019 from the state insurer. “Our data shows otherwise, UST[H] should review their claims data and reconcile with PhilHealth. A big portion of their claims were returned to them for deficiency.” Domingo told The Manila Times in a text message.
