Phil Jones added another remarkable incident to his impressive collection of on-field calamities after suffering a friction burn in Manchester United's 2-0 FA Cup win over Reading. The defender received the injury to his forehead when challenging the Royals' striker Danny Loader, which sent him crashing head-first into the turf. A red mark and long gash were visible on Jones' forehead in the aftermath of the match as the Man United squad prepared to fly to Dubai for a warm weather camp. Jones was part of the Manchester United squad that won the 2016 FA Cup, although he conceded the penalty that Eden Hazard converted to win the 2018 final. Teammate Juan Mata even mocked Jones after he tripped over some astroturf on the side of the pitch in a match against West Ham.
