When England met Iceland at Euro 2016 Phil Foden watched from the sofa at home in south Manchester with his mum and dad. Next day, he went out with his mates to the park and worked through his frustrations with a long kickabout. Foden turned 16 only a month before that 2016 debacle and is 20 now, and a father. He has moved out of the family home and lives in salubrious, professional footballer-y Wilmslow. But in essence he is still that wide-eyed, uncomplicated kid.
