The gift will enable the the university to expand its Phil and Penny Knight Campus for Accelerating Scientific Impact, which is dedicated to bioengineering and applied scientific research and training. The Phil and Penny Knight campus was begun in 2016 with the help of the initial $500 million gift from the Knights. With those additional positions, the total number of Knight Campus tenure-related faculty will reach 30, according to the university.
