And last night’s League One match between Peterborough United and Walsall looked set to become the latest victim of heavy snowfall. That was until Steven Taylor, the Peterborough defender, grabbed a shovel, joined the groundsmen and helped clear the snow that had covered the markings on the ABAX Stadium pitch. With ten minutes remaining and with Peterborough leading 2-1, the referee halted proceedings and the efforts, led by Taylor, began to get the pitch in a playable condition to complete the match. The home supporters revelled in Taylor’s clear-up operation as he began clearing snow from the 18-yard line.
