On Saturday, a group called “Draft Peter Thiel For Governor” registered with the FEC as a political action committee presumably to raise money for a Thiel run in 2018. Last month, Politico reported that Thiel was considering a bid for California governor, citing three unnamed Republican sources. Its website’s donation page, which allows for donations with credit card or bitcoin, features even more bombastic language about the current California governor. “A great economic state like California should not be represented by a extremist like Governor Jerry Brown!” it says.
