Person dies off Shelly Beach, north AucklandCALLUM MCGILLIVRAY/STUFF Emergency services were called to Shelly Beach about 10.30am (file photo). A man has died in the Kaipara Harbour, north of Auckland. An Auckland Coastguard spokeswoman said the man fell overboard from a Kaipara Cat charter vessel. After being pulled aboard, the man's condition deteriorated and the catamaran made its way to Shelly Beach to meet an Auckland Westpac Rescue helicopter. A police spokeswoman said the circumstances of how the man came to be in the water are "unclear at this stage".
