A person has been taken to hospital in a critical condition after a single car crash on Waimea Rd, in Nelson. A police spokeswoman said the crash was reported at 1.50pm after a car left the road and crashed down a bank opposite the SPCA. St John spokesman Gerard Campbell​ said a patient had been taken from the scene to Nelson Hospital in a critical condition. Earlier on Thursday morning there was a two-car collision in the southbound lane of Waimea Rd. No-one was injured in the crash, which happened between Tukuka St and Boundary Rd around 7.40am.
