Food was on the minds of about 150 people who descended on Riverton for a New Zealand Permaculture hui this week. Hui host Robyn Guyton said permaculture was about ways of living more simply and one aspect was growing food rather than buying it. Ideas were shared in the Guyton's forest garden during the three-day hui, including on how to have different food systems going in the event of a disaster such as an earthquake or climate event. The guests, from as far away as Northland, enjoyed organic food in a tunnel house - used as a dining room - during the three-day hui between Thursday and Sunday, she said.
