Manchester City have a belief that they could sign Lionel Messi this summer, after he was embroiled in a high-profile dispute with Eric Abidal. Despite Pep Guardiola claiming that it’s his “wish” for Messi to stay at Barcelona , there is up to a 10 per cent chance that he could be joining the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season. It was also revealed that Messi has a clause in his contract that would allow him to leave Barcelona on a free transfer at the end of the season. While there are still huge doubts over whether Messi will leave the club, City still have between a five and 10 per cent chance of completing the deal, according to The Athletic.
