Hundreds of local residents, officials and representatives of civil society on Monday joined hands and collected plastic waste from three major canals of River Krishna at 14 selected places, including Manginapudi beach. Imtiaz to clean up the canals of the River Krishna, received an overwhelming response from the public who turned up in large numbers to participate in the eco-friendly initiative, Nenusytham. Mr. Imtiaz led the clean-up drive at Koneru Centre while several officials were entrusted the task of monitoring the drive at different locations. The officials and staff of the Machilipatnam Urban Development Authority, the Machilipatnam Municipality and other government departments joined the drive. The officials also deployed machines to collect the plastic waste from the canals.
