(Photo: People’s Party)The People’s Party has reaffirmed its role as leader of the opposition and ruled out joining the government, according to party spokesman Parit Wacharasindhu. Mr Parit was responding on Saturday to speculation about whether the People’s Party would attempt to form a government in the unlikely event that the election-winning Bhumjaithai Party was unable to do so. “As the election outcome showed that the People’s Party was not in the top position, we respect the right of the leading party to form a government. Unofficial results from the Feb 8 general election showed that Bhumjaithai won 193 seats, followed by the People’s Party with 118. Pheu Thai came third with 74 seats, followed by Klatham with 58 and the Democrats with 22.
