Penang marathon to introduce elite categories


THE Aspen-Klippa Penang Bridge International Marathon (PBIM) 2026 will introduce two elite categories, for high-performance runners. These categories – the Full Marathon Challenge and Half Marathon Challenge – will feature stricter qualifying times and only elite athletes who finish within the competitive cut-off time will be entitled to the official prize money. He said participation would be capped at 500 people (for full marathon) and 1,000 people (half marathon). Wong said the series comprises some of the world’s most prestigious races, including the Tokyo Marathon, Boston Marathon and London Marathon. This year’s edition at Aspen Vision City in Batu Kawan on Dec 13 will feature multiple categories for the full marathon (42km), half marathon (21km) and the 10km run.
