GEORGE TOWN: Bus services in Penang have temporarily ceased operation after heavy rain caused flash floods in the state. "Rapid Penang is temporarily ceasing it stage bus operations as flash floods in Penang island and the mainland worsen," it said in a statement on Sunday. Commuters are advised to refer to the Rapid Penang Facebook page for updates. Penang has sought help from the armed forces after typhoon-like winds and rain lashed the state since Saturday, causing widespread floods, landslides and trees to topple.
