GEORGE TOWN: ​One of the most popular tourist spot in the state, Penang Hill, will soon be gazetted as a no smoking zone. Penang Hill Corporation today initiated the "Towards the Penang Hill Non-smoking Zone Gazettement" programme, an effort to intensify public awareness on smoking ban in public areas, including Penang Hill, once it is gazetted. Its general manager Cheok Lay Leng officially submitted the application to gazette it recently to the state government. Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng (left) breaks cigarette replicas and launching program no smoking zone on the area in Bukit Bendera, Penang. "Hence the gazettement of Penang Hill as a no smoking area will elevate our efforts to make it a top destination for eco-tourism," he said in his speech at the launch of the programme today by Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng.
