GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Hill funicular train service has been suspended following a landslide which covered part of its track, triggered by heavy rain late Saturday. A 20-second video has since made its way into social media yesterday, showing the severity of the landslide. In the video, an unidentified man is heard saying in Hokkien that the train stopped about 20ft before the landslide site. Penang Hill Corporation (PHC), via its Facebook page, announced that the train service has been temporarily suspended until further notice due to extreme bad weather and for safety reasons. All visitors on the hill were safely brought down and no one was stranded or injured during the storm.
