Peelamedu over-bridge work begins after five-year delay

Coimbatore: After a delay of over five years, the rail over bridge project at Peelamedu, which is estimated at 33 crore, has finally begun. "The Ondipudur rail over bridge will also be set up soon as we have resolved the land acquisition issues. After many protests in 2014 and 2015, the railways department completed the portion of the bridge on railway land alone. Of the 120 land owners, 13 residents had filed a case in the court seeking compensation based on the new land acquisition bill. The Avarampalaym bridge will be constructed once the corporation completes the underground drainage project," said an official.
