IPOH: The Sessions Court here fixed March 3 to deliver its decision on an application by state executive councillor (exco) Paul Yong Choo Kiong for a stay of proceedings in his rape trial. In her judgement, Norashima ordered the defence team to file a written application notice instead of an oral submission for the stay, together with the affidavits. Meanwhile, Yong’s counsel, Datuk Rajpal Singh said the Court of Appeal in Putrajaya has dismissed an appeal by them to transfer the rape trial from the Sessions Court to the High Court. “The decision was a 2-1 majority and due to that, we filed an appeal to the Federal Court against the appellate court’s decision. “The date for the hearing in the Federal Court on the application is yet to be decided.
