The former Tottenham and Liverpool striker Paul Stewart was remembered for scoring in Spurs' 1991 FA Cup win. Paul, 54, co-founder of charity SAVE which helps abuse victims, said: “I think I’m recognised as someone that came forward with the story of abuse I suffered as a youngster. My identity now is that of someone who suffered historical abuse. He said: “They’ve used survivors to build a framework within safeguarding, which is really important.”Paul is a panellist this week in a two-day seminar forming part of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse. He thinks child sexual abuse should legally have to be reported in England and Wales – if there were assurances that relevant bodies would have enough funding to tackle it.
