An “emotionally devastated” former Progressive Conservative leader Patrick Brown has filed a lawsuit seeking $8 million in damages from CTV News. Brown, who was forced to resign on Jan. 25, just hours after CTV broadcast a story alleging sexual impropriety with two women, filed a statement of claim Monday at the Barrie courthouse. “The swift demolition of his personal and professional reputation on national television left Mr. Brown in a complete state of shock and disbelief,” the suit said. Brown made a brief, late-night statement Jan. 24. The woman later revised that recollection, telling CTV that she was 19, not 18, at the time of the encounter.
