Passerby rescues three from house fire in South TaranakiJeremy Wilkinson Frank-Joseph Habib saved three children from a fire in Manaia on October 28. The fire, located in one of the three childrens' rooms on the bottom floor of the house had spread to the ceiling without anyone in the house noticing. He said the house had working smoking alarms but there wasn't one in the bedroom where the fire started. "Smoke was contained in the room so the fire spread into the ceiling of the house without anyone noticing. "Ideally there should be a working smoke alarm in every bedroom, the hallway and living areas."
