Lawmakers, on the other hand, can erase and change the amount of the annual “chalk allowance” our public school teachers get. At present, the chalk allowance is P3,500 per year, which translates to about P16 a day. This budget, known as the chalk allowance, amounted to P700 pesos in 2011. In the passage of the 2019 budget, there was already a proposal to increase the chalk allowance, but this was not granted. It is also worth noting that the chalk allowance is provided for annually under the General Appropriations Act.
