Parties ramping up for Mt Roskill by-electionMatt Bowen Labour candidate Michael Wood said he's "always been interested in the the Mt Roskill seat" and with Phil Goff off to be Auckland's mayor, this is his chance. Labour and National are gearing up to woo Auckland's Mt Roskill electorate - the seat set to be vacated by newly elected Auckland mayor Phil Goff. The electorate has been in Labour hands since its creation in 1999, and Labour candidate Michael Wood intends to keep it that way in the upcoming by-election. National Party president Peter Goodfellow said said National would "give the people of Mt Roskill a real choice" and that Parmar had advocated strongly for them over the last two years. Mt Roskill is a multi-ethnic electorate in Auckland's south west, with large proportion of residents born overseas.
