Parking meter charges set to rise in Christchurch

The cost of feeding a parking meter looks set to jump in Christchurch. Recommended new fees laid out in the city council's draft annual plan include $4 for an hour's on-street metered parking, up from $3.10 currently. The city council has already stated it wants to reduce traffic congestion in the central city and prioritise on-street parking for mobility spaces, loading zones and short stay parking.
