Para cyclist crash: Businessman charged with dangerous driving

KUALA SELANGOR: A businessman who allegedly ploughed his pick-up truck into Paralympic cyclists training for the Asean Para Games on Thursday was charged at the magistrate’s court here this morning with dangerous driving leading to an accident. The father of four, who was charged in front of magistrate Abdul Jalil Salam, pleaded not guilty and requested for a trial. Saravanan also said that the accused had moved to Kuala Selangor just a month ago, and that his family could not afford RM10,000 bail. If convicted, a first-time offender would also be disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for at least two years. Head coach Mohd Johari Nayan, 42, who was escorting the cyclists on a motorcycle, also sustained injuries in the crash.
