Para cyclist Adi Raimie gifts M'sia 1st gold of Asean Para Games


KUALA LUMPUR: Adi Raimie Amizazahan presented the first 2017 Asean Para Games gold to Malaysia when he won the One Kilometre cycling time-trial in the C1, C2 and C3 category. The 17-year-old athlete, who is paralysed on one side of his body, clocked one minute 17.232 seconds to also erase his personal best of 1:18.048s. "This is a very proud moment for me, as I did not disappoint by delivering what was expected of me. I had to skip days of classes, but it has been worth-it," said the athlete who studies at SMK Datok Lokman, Kampung Pandan. "I went for an operation which resulted in the right side of my body becoming paralysed for life," Adi explained.
