DAGUPAN CITY – An Urdaneta City village councilman was shot dead Saturday night in Manaoag town in Pangasinan province, police said. Armando Dela Cruz, 43, a kagawad of Barangay (village) Pinmaludpod, was driving through Manaoag on his way back to Urdaneta when two motorcycle-riding men drove close to his car and opened fire at about 9:50 p.m., according to SPO1 Henry Catabay, Manaoag police investigator. ADVERTISEMENTDela Cruz was brought to the Urdaneta District Hospital but was declared him dead on arrival. Catabay said the attack might not have been election-related because Dela Cruz was serving his last term and had not filed a certificate of candidacy for the May 14 elections.
